Natural Medicine Guidelines for Breast Cancer Patients

DIET (recommended foods, plus substances to avoid)
- oranges, grapefruit, and other citrus fruits
- a variety of fresh, seasonal, and organic whenever possible, fruits and vegetables
- fresh mixed vegetable juice (1/2 carrot plus your choice of other green vegetables)
- cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, kale, collards etc.)
- soy products, such as tofu and soy milk; also tempeh, nato, and miso (total soy 35-60 grams)
- cold pressed olive oil, 1 tablespoon daily
- high fiber foods: legumes, whole grain cereals, seeds and nuts, oats, and ground flax seeds (25 grams)
- complex carbohydrates with low-gylcemic index
- fresh fish, especially salmon and tuna (albacore, yellow tail); also mackerel and sardines
- avoid sugars
- avoid red meat and poultry
SUPPLEMENTS (recommended daily dosages)
- soy powder: use complex whole soy products like IsoProtein by Pure Encapsulations (avoid concentrated genistien products)
- bioflavanoid complex with quercitin: 500 mg
- vitamin C (as ascorbly palmitate): 1000-2000 mg
- vitamin E (as mixed tocopherols): 400-800 IU
- vitamin D: 500-1000 IU
- selenium: 400-800 mcg
- zinc: 30-50 mg
- Folic acid: 5 mg
- omega-3 fatty acid complex: 2,000 mg(as EPA/DHA)
- basic hypoallergenic multivitamin complex
- calcium D-glucarate: 500 mg
- curcumin extract: 500-1000 mg
- Indole-3 carbinol (I3C): 500 mg
- mushroom glycan complex: dosage depends on product concentration
LIFE STYLE SUGGESTIONS
- sunshine: get at least two hours of natural light exposure and fresh air daily
- exercise: take a long walk, practice tai chi, yoga, or swim everyday; take a nature hike
- do not drink any alcohol, and do not smoke
- practice stress reduction techniques, meditate
- get in touch with your true nature, do what you always wanted to do
- spend time with family and friends
- lower your body fat and improve muscle tone and flexibility
